In Paraguay, the highest international deliberative body on labor rights standards at the International Labor Organization found that the government restricted freedom of association and collective bargaining. Paraguay has also recently passed laws criminalizing rural worker and campesino movements. Amid political stagnation and anti-union sentiment, the Solidarity Center works with one of the largest trade union centers in Paraguay to mobilize and affiliate rural workers who are some of the most vulnerable in the country. The Solidarity Center also has a longstanding commitment to support domestic worker unions in both Paraguay and Brazil, and participates in regional actions throughout Latin America.
