Solidarity Center: 20 Years Working for Worker Rights

Solidarity CenterAs the Solidarity Center marks its 20th anniversary in 2017, we are celebrating our many accomplishments and energized to begin building our next 20 years, joining together with unions and other allies to empower workers around the world to achieve decent work and more just societies.

With the consistent, long-term partnership of many allies over the last two decades, we have advanced the Solidarity Center’s core values of equality and inclusion; solidarity; partnership; rights-based worker empowerment; and the dignity of work. And we are proud to be an active partner with the labor, migration, gender, human rights and democracy communities in their important, and related, work.

Unions and worker organizations with a total membership of 55.5 million people became more capable representatives of workers between 2011-2015 as a result of Solidarity Center programs. Find out more about our work over 20 years here.

Over the next 20 years, we will challenge growing global injustice and economic inequality; engage in feminist practices to balance the power relations that currently exploit workers; support, defend and expand workers’ right to organize for their benefit and protection; and employ innovative legal advocacy and other tools to create more just and transparent workplaces and supply chains.

We are planning several anniversary events this year and encourage you to join us as we recognize how far we have come and plan for an even more expansive future, where the rights to freedom of association, safe workplaces and decent jobs free of discrimination and violence are the norm, rather than the exception.

With your support, we can build a better future for workers around the world today—and over the next 20 years.
